How is Globalization defined?

The result of human innovation in terms of transportation, medicine, democracy and technology, has strengthened the economic, environmental and political interdependence between nations. Consequently, the strong bonding alters local lifestyles, demands and preferences of consumers and marketing. For instance, western culture is rapidly diffused to all parts of the world through means of media, such as pop music and brands of clothing. It is a 2-way progress, where a variety of cuisine can also be discovered in western cities.

However, it is a controversial term, which to perspectives, can be replaced by "Westernization" or "Americanization". Many less developed countries feel excluded from the advantages of globalization and suffer from the down sides of it. Globalization indeed enables a free flow of capital, goods, services, people and knowledge, based on capitalism. However, it also results negatively in environmental issues, lost of local culture, economic inequality and strong social hierarchy.

Downside on Environment:

Extreme pollution is inevitable in developing countries as more factories from developed countries move in, and has caused health issues, disability and deaths every year. However, solving the problem of pollution can imply the halting of economical benefits. Developed nations should take responsibility and collaboratively utilize their advanced technology and medicine to help solving the behind-the-scene issues
